Between 15–18 September 2025, oloBion attended IFSCC 2025 in Cannes, one of the leading international events in cosmetic science. During the congress, we presented a talk focused on a topic that is becoming increasingly central for brands, consumers, and regulators alike: building a robust, science-based foundation for claim substantiation using a practical case study in human skin.
The cosmetic industry is evolving toward a model where efficacy and tolerability claims must be supported by evidence that is credible, traceable, and reproducible. In our presentation, we discussed how this can be achieved by combining:
- Non-invasive sampling approaches that respect skin integrity while still capturing meaningful biological information.
- OMICS technologies, including metabolomics and lipidomics, generate detailed molecular readouts of skin responses to topical products.
A structured analytical workflow linking product application to changes in the stratum corneum, the skin’s outermost barrier layer, where early biochemical signals often appear before visible outcomes. This strategy helps translate broad concepts such as barrier support, comfort, or tolerability into quantifiable molecular patterns—without relying on invasive biopsies.
Our talk outlined a controlled approach in which cosmetic application is paired with standardized sampling and high-resolution molecular profiling. By using stratified sampling methods, it becomes possible to study not only whether a product produces changes, but also where these changes occur across the barrier and how they relate to molecular remodeling.
IFSCC 2025 was also an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and build connections across the global cosmetic ecosystem. We engaged with cosmetic and dermo-cosmetic companies, ingredient suppliers, technology providers, and academic groups interested in translational skin science.
