about

About Olink

Olink® is a company that provide innovative proteomics solutions to understand real-time biology and gain actionable insights into complex biological processes. The implementation of the Olink® platform in our services stems from our commitment to offer our customers the most comprehensive and customized proteomics solution available. Olink® enables a more targeted approach by focusing on specific proteins of interest chosen by the client. Thanks to the high specificity conferred by its antibody-based technology, it remains unaffected by the presence of highly abundant, non-informative proteins such as albumin when applied to plasma samples. Moreover, although LC-MS proteomics does not require large sample volumes – for instance, we only need 100 microliters of plasma – Olink® supports analyses using even smaller volumes (1–2 microliters). This capability is especially beneficial for example when processing residual samples from valuable matrices that have already been employed in multi-omics studies.

On the other hand, LC-MS proteomics facilitates a broader survey of the proteins present in a sample, with the potential to identify proteins not covered by the Olink® panel, across various matrices and species (not limited to human and murine). Furthermore, LC-MS proteomics sidesteps the potential interferences associated with antibody-based assays (such as the hook effect) while providing valuable insights into an additional dimension of proteomic complexity: post-translational modifications (PTMs).
